Marjorie Steppa Obituary
Marjorie Rose Steppa, 97, of Sandstone, Minnesota passed away on June 29, 2024.
Marjorie was born on August 28, 1926 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was the third of 11 children of Anna and Jacob Wermerskirchen. When she was young the family moved to the Bruno area where she attended Bruno High School. After graduating she moved to the State of Washington to work in the war effort building bombers. She also attended beauty school in Washington. On May 30, 1947 she married Raymond R. Steppa, originally of Kerrick, Minnesota.
They moved back to Minnesota and eventually settled in Good Thunder where they lived until 2004. After Ray passed away, she moved to Sandstone to be near family.
Marjorie was a homemaker who enjoyed camping, cooking, baking, sewing, and hosting family gatherings. She and her husband were snowbirds for many years, driving their motorhome to Arizona for the winter months. She was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, and siblings Joanne, Roseann, Donna, Norbert, Jacob and Lawrence.
She is survived by sisters Luella, Irene, Marilyn and Loretta; children Allen (Kathy) Steppa of Roseville, MN, Linda (Dan) Slinger of Stratton, CO, Cindy (Gage Kingsbury) Steppa of Portland, OR, Robert (Andrea) Steppa of Trabuco Canyon, CA; grandchildren Jen (Brian) Crim, Chris (Amanda) Steppa, Colleen (Henrique Borges da Silva) Steppa, Ryan (Kelsey) Slinger, Grant Slinger, Jack Steppa, Sam Steppa; and 10 great grandchildren.
Services were held for Marjorie on Monday, July 8, 2024 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sandstone, MN, followed by burial at Bruno Cemetery, Askov, MN.
