Obituary - Carrie Barott

Carrie Mae Barott, 76, of Mapleton, MN, went lovingly into the arms of her Lord on April 7, 2026. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 16th at 11:00 a.m. at the United Church of Mapleton, with a visitation starting one hour before. Carrie was born in Chicago Illinois to Adolph and Wilda (Ludolph) Lange on April 6, 1949. The family left Chicago and moved to Minneapolis around the time Carrie was 10 years old. She graduated from South Minneapolis High School in 1966 where she played clarinet in the school band.
Carrie met Larry Barott at the Saint Paul Curling Club, and they were joined in marriage on June 6, 1981 under the “witches’ hat” at Prospect Park United Methodist Church in Minneapolis. That led Carrie, a city girl, to move to a small-town farm where she and Larry raised their children Dean and Alicia Barott. They enjoyed many adventures together as a family, which included stopping at every Dairy Queen on the way to the cabin. She also took a trip to see almost every light house in Minnesota.
Carrie loved watching her football team, the Chicago Bears, and would cheer them on proudly wearing all her blue and orange. She loved light houses and tall ships, puzzles, crossword puzzles, cross stitch, and a variety of other arts and crafts activities. But most importantly, Carrie loved spending her time with the ones she loved most.
Left to cherish Carrie’s memory are her husband of 44 years, Larry, her two children Dean and Alicia, and several extended family members and friends.
Carrie was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Glenn, and sister Stephanie.
Memorials may be sent to St. Joseph’s Indian School, Arbor Day Foundation, United Church of Mapleton, and the Heather Curling Club.
