Obituary - Gayle McGregor

April 17, 2026

Gayle Louise McGregor, age 82, was born on April 19, 1943, to Gwen and Bruce McGregor in Mankato, MN and grew up on the family farm in Mapleton. As the oldest of four children, she spent a lot of time helping with household chores and caring for her siblings. Throughout her youth Gayle was a Scottish Dancer, performing each year at the Robert Burns night.
She attended Mapleton High School and Mankato State; later moving to Edina where she raised her three children. She worked for many years at Honeywell and Edina Public Schools. Gayle was fiercely independent, strong and hardworking.
Gayle loved spending time with her friends and family. Whether it was a special event, or just an impromptu gathering, she was always ready for fun! She enjoyed entertaining, sewing, gardening and traveling.
As an avid sports fan, Gayle loved following all the Minnesota teams. She enjoyed watching and discussing all sports, especially football, golf, and any game that included one of her grandchildren.
Gayle’s greatest joy came from being Grammy to her 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She adored spending time with them, attending their events, and celebrating their accomplishments.
The past few years Gayle enjoyed living at the Pillars of Lakeville where she met many new friends, she considered family.
Gayle passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 5th, 2026.  She will be dearly missed and always loved. Heartfelt thanks to The Pillars care team and Grace Hospice for their care, kindness, and support.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Bonnie.
